Having been a successful businessman for many years, Misha Peleg knows it is easy to go from engaged in work to absorbed by work. Misha often spends time in nature to recharge and feel grounded. Nature walks, hikes, picnics, and camping are great ways to spend time outdoors. Here are some of Misha’s suggestions for how to make the most of your time in nature.

Take Photos

When you are enjoying a hike or other outdoor activity, it’s normal to want to save a memory from the outing. Most parks and public nature areas don’t have gift shops, and sometimes people take rocks or carve something into a tree. Doing these things can disturb wildlife and harm the ecosystem. It may not seem like a big deal, but a rock or tree bark could be part of a small creature’s home. Taking rocks is even illegal in some parks. Instead of interfering with your surroundings, Misha suggests taking photos instead. To preserve the memory and nature, photos are the best souvenir.

Visit New Locations

Another fun way to enjoy nature is to visit somewhere you’ve never been before. Try pointing at a spot on a map with your eyes closed, roll some dice, or pull names of parks out of a hat. Your adventure could lead you to great views or a serene spot in a forest. Whether it’s near or far, a new place could become your next favourite hiking spot. Just remember to always be careful in unfamiliar areas, even when you’re on a trail.

Unplug

A great way to steep yourself in nature is to take a break from your phone. Social media and stressful news sites can contribute to the state of our mental health and stress. Fretting over every issue or keeping up with others can be mentally exhausting, and it becomes hard to feel grounded. Next time you go on a walk, take your eyes away off the screen and enjoy a quiet moment. Take a deep breath and remind yourself to soak in the scenery. Misha Peleg sometimes likes to meditate outdoors when he finds a quiet place to sit.

Eat a Meal

An easy and popular way to enjoy the outdoors is to eat outside. If you are adventurous, you probably know that a cold-water bottle and snacks like jerky or trail mix seem to taste better after a rigorous hike. For those who prefer a tamer activity, something as simple as sitting in your local park with a packed lunch is still a great way to enjoy a bit of sunshine. Not everyone has the mobility to walk on trails, so city parks are a great accessible option. Parks are also great for a crowd, so try inviting some friends for a potluck-style picnic!

Make it a Tradition

One of the best ways to enjoy nature is to do it with the people you care about. You and your loved ones can look forward to going to the same destination annually. Alternatively, you could create a tradition with a twist by taking turns choosing a new location each year.

When you are out in nature, remember to be respectful so others can enjoy the Earth in the future. Taking care of the environment is good for everyone, so take part in activities that leave your surroundings the same as how you found them. No matter how you decide to enjoy nature, the most important rule is to have fun! Misha Peleg loves spending time outdoors as a mood booster and bonding activity with friends.
