Although Misha does not consider himself a fitness guru by any means, he knows a thing or two about exercise and healthful living. He loves to share what he has learned with family, friends, and strangers. Peleg works out at local gyms, exercises in public parks and is a big fan of group fitness classes such as yoga and cycling. He believes group dynamics help hold participants accountable.
Here are four of Misha Peleg’s personal fitness tips that have helped him practice healthful living:
1. Hydrate
Drinking plenty of water all day every day is key to staying strong, losing weight, staying focused and energized. When you hydrate regularly, you postpone muscle fatigue as water carries important nutrients to cells. Water also aids in digestion, keeps your skin hydrated and helps detoxify your body. Misha sips water all day long and always keeps bottled water on him.
2. Get Plenty of Sleep
Sleep plays a key role in healing. In fact, sleep helps in the process of healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Sleep deficiencies have been linked to strokes, high blood pressure, kidney disease, diabetes and heart disease. Because Misha Peleg is an early riser, he is always cognizant of how late he stays up. He regularly tries to get eight hours of sleep a night.
3. Eat Plenty of Fruits and Vegetables
A study from the National Institutes of Health showed that eating an average of five daily servings of fruits and vegetables reduced risk of death from heart and respiratory diseases. Such a diet also showed to lower the risk of cancer. Diets rich in these foods can reduce the risks of eye and digestive issues. They can also help keep blood sugar at an optimal level, and help keep appetite in check. Peleg is such a devotee of healthy eating that he grows many of his own vegetables.
4. Avoid Processed Foods
Processed foods often have too much sugar, salt and fat which can contribute to obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes. Examples of commonly eaten processed foods include sugary breakfast cereals, microwave ready meals, cakes and biscuits and many kinds of snack foods. In the spirit of eating healthy, Misha recommends snacking on apples and nuts when you get a craving for something in between meals.
Misha Peleg strives to live his best life possible. He eats healthy and exercises so he can continue to pursue the activities he loves, remain focused and support the causes he admires. He believes that the choices we make in our daily lives determine our destiny, which includes decisions that affect our health.
